About Us:

The word "Vaad" in Hebrew means association. It is composed of Rabbinic Authorities which convene to discuss important Halachic and Kashruth concerns for the community.

Vaad Atlantic is a new name of a longstanding organization, The Atlantic County Orthodox Vaad. The Vaad began in 1989 under the leadership of Rabbi Shmuel Rapoport & Rabbi Mordechai Weiss. It has served the needs of Atlantic County Orthodox Jewish Community for over twenty two years.  Visitors to Atlantic City have been turning to the Vaad for guidance relating to kosher food, minyanim, mikvah and more.

The purpose of the Vaad is different from our local board of Rabbis and Cantors, which meets regularly to discuss community wide related matters. The vaad’s function is limited to address the halachik concerns as it relates to Orthodox Judaism, including kashrut and eruv supervision.

The Vaad will continue to serve all communities in Southern South Jersey (south of the Atlantic City Expressway), including some of the smaller communities which are not part of the other New Jersey Orthodox Vaads such as Vineland and Gloucester County.
